Waiting

is there no way out?

We don’t always get what we ask from God immediately, sometimes the wait is really long. This period of time is the hardest as this is when our faith in God really goes through the fire. Doubt can start to settle in and sometimes we even try to help God quicken things up a little. As in Abraham’s case, we can learn a lot from this father of faith. What Abraham ultimately got from God was very good but it didn’t come easy. He waited for a very long time and God placed many trials and testing along the way. We can experience the same thing too, the wait is definitely a rocky climb upwards. Perhaps, every day the situation seems to get bleaker and bleaker, it seems as though God will never come true. Perhaps, everywhere around you are screaming that it is impossible, that there is no way out. The climb will get harder but the reward at the end of it is definitely worth the struggle. The Lord is always faithful and will never withhold anything from His children. God’s heart is to bless. We can take comfort that through this wait God is trying to mould us, increase our level of faith and trust in Him."For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." Jeremiah 29:11 However during this unbearable wait, we got to keep fixing our eyes on God and never let doubt crept in. Also, we got to never for one moment stop believing. When the going starts to get really difficult, and faith starts to run dry, reflect on the goodness of the Lord. God never changes, if He came through once why not a second time? He will always come true no matter what. "But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt, because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. That person should not expect to receive anything from the Lord. Such a person is double-minded and unstable in all they do." James 1:6-8

Why do we worship God?

Why do we worship God,? Have you ever thought of this question? This came to my mind after my first sharing of the gospel during the month long of doing street e. The girl had agreed to say the salvation prayer with me. This is definitely good news. However later as i dwelt on why she agreed to accept Jesus and thought it could possibly be because of my testimony. In terms of academics, she was in the exact same position as me. Maybe the reason why she agreed was because she wanted the same thing that He had blessed me with(I shared how He had helped me through the chinese papers). I am not out to judge her but I did make me wonder about that question. Why do we worship God then, it can't be just because of everything God can do for us. Indeed it isn't. God created us to be worshipers, as humans, we worship everything from money to people to materials. God is definitely more than all these. There is a line in a song that says "you're more costly than sliver and more costly than gold". in another song a line goes "If we don't praise you the the rocks will soon cry out, cry out." That's sufficient reason to worship Him. Most importantly, God loves us that's why bless us. "Which of you, if your son asks for bread, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a snake? If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him!" Matt 7:9-11  God loves us very very much and is definitely worthy of our praise.
God bless.

why didn't you ask/tell me?

"Why didn't you ask/tell me." My friend asked me that question and that struck me. We have heard our leaders or other believers tell us that if we don't share the gospel with our friends one day when you go to heaven and you see them at the gates of heaven begging to go in and when they see you, they ask "why didn't you tell me." Or at least that was what my leader told me yesterday. Somehow, that seems so far away and we don't see the weight of their words. For me, when I heard that my heart was stirred and I did vow to myself that I will do something different, share with my friends when I see them on Monday. But I don't think I really saw the severity of her words till today when I saw my classmate in church and she asked me that question. She was invited by my discipler and I really thank God that God used her to share and helped me learn a lesson. I realised that all our fears that we carry when contemplate whether or not share was all non-existent. The message today that was preached was totally in line. “Stop making excuses, start living for Christ.” We are not the ones who are speaking when we share but it is God that is. We are just His instrument. We have the fear of rejection; prejudice; one’s inability and even what if this spoils the relationship. However God is in control and we really never know until we try. Really, if you don’t do it who will. Not everyone gets such a rare chance of someone else helping you to share. My church is setting the whole month of July to reaching out to souls. That is what we need to do. There has been a lot of talk going around about the end of the world coming and there are so many signs and happenings in the world that God has said will be a sign of His second hour. We need to recognise the urgency of the hour, the clock is ticking really fast and we do not have much time left on our hands. We all have our thousand and one excuses but I have also come to learn when we let Jesus take the wheel, we know that we are going to be okay, The excuses may seem very valid, may seem like the perfect reason why we shouldn’t. However when we say yes they are really just excuses.  Lay your fears down at His feet and let God use whether little you have. If you won’t who will. Will you keep good news to yourself or go around proclaiming it? I was just thinking what if non-believers ask why should I believe in this so called Jesus. As I put myself in the shoes of them, the church really seems like a cult. Sometimes, I do question God are you real? But He is and I know that for sure because of what He has done in my life and what I see He has done in other people’s life. Just plant the seed and let God do the rest. =)
*I wasn’t even planning to write so much so i believe that this is God, so if you read this maybe it is really for you. God Bless.=)

all about the money?

I read an article the other day about a study by a professor of a university in singapore. His study, published earlier this year, shows that Singaporean women are ’significantly’ more materialistic than their American peers. The full article can be read from this website: http://www.temasekreview.com/2011/06/15/money-talks-when-spore-women-say-i-love-you/.
anyway that isn't the object of my post. As it was doing by devotion yesterday, this verse struck me:
"Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said 'Never will i leave you, never will I forsake you.'" Hebrews 13:5 It dawned on me that we Christians are not supposed to be materialistic. In the world we live in today, every where we turn is advertisements that tell us what product is good, what we should buy. It is hard not to lust after money. The article also says "Prof Li did not ask his subjects for their reasons but said he is not surprised by the finding. ‘Maybe Singaporean women are just being realistic. Here, you need a lot of money to survive and afford an affluent lifestyle. Maybe they are just being practical,’ he said. He is right, even if you aren't tempted by these and claim you aren't just think what put food on your table? But we can be rest assured that we don't need to worry about tomorrow. "Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own." Matthew 6:25 Instead we should trust God to provide for all our needs, for He is our provider. It isn't going to be easy but we got to keep praying about this and even pray for others that God will help them not be materialistic. We are also suppose to "
seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well" as Matthew 6:33 says. Another thought that came to my mind was how we planned our lives. Maybe there are some of you who aspire to work in the field of your interest, that is good. There are some on the other hand, me included, our dream job is one that can aid us in earning a lot of money. No matter what defines our dream, we should commit all our plans and even life to Him. In proverbs chapter 16 verse 4 it says" Commit to the Lord whatever you do and your plans will succeed." This is really what God is speaking to me because when I was reading the daily bread today, the topic is also on money. I'll end with the verse"For the love of money is the root of all kinds of evil." I Timothy 6:10
I don't know who reads this or if anyone even does, but if you are reading this God probably is speaking to you and this message is probably for you.=) God bless

Trust

When i was younger I used to like the Proverbs 3:5-6 very much. It was my favourite verse. However, over the years I have forgotten that it is important to trust in Him and not to rely on my own capabilities. What the world says and what God says is very different. It is hard to trust Him as what He says is often of the intangible and it takes great faith to do so. Whereas if we choose to follow the world we know for sure of the outcome. Often, i am afraid of failure, my own natural self comes into play and I choose to not to trust in Him. I forget of His promises and what awesome things He has done in my life. I am sure many are the same as me, Genesis 9:16 says: "The rainbow shall be in the cloud, and I will look on it to remember the everlasting covenant between God and every living creature of all flesh that is on the earth." Our God is faithful so we should start trusting. I think we should begin trusting Him for the little things and see how He moves, slowly we will also be able to trust in Him for the greater things. The song nothing is impossible puts in so greatly:" I am not going to live by what I see, I am not going to live by what I feel". This is exactly how we should live as a show of trust to Him. God bless.=)
"trust, trust in the Lord, lean not on your own understanding in all, all of your ways acknowledge Him and He'll make your paths straight....."

A meaningful poem

I used to write in MSN space but that was 3 years ago. It was a closed blog which i used to write my personal thoughts. Only 1 friend was invited to view it. We aren't so close anymore, that is a bit sad. Relationship are so hard to keep. Anyways they are closing it down and i happened to see this meaningful poem. I hope you will be able to learn something from it.=) I did.

I knelt to pray but not for long, I had too much to do.
I had to hurry and get to work.
For bills would soon be due.
So I knelt and said a hurried prayer, And jumped up off my knees.
My Christian duty was now done, My soul could rest at ease.
All day long I had no time
To spread a word of cheer.
No time to speak of Christ to friends, They'd laugh at me I'd fear.
No time, no time, too much to do, That was my constant cry, No time to give to souls in need
But at last the time, the time to die.
I went before the Lord
I came,
I stood with downcast eyes.
For in his hands God held a book;
It was the book of life.
God looked into his book and said
'Your name I cannot find.
I once was going to write it down...
But never found the time'
