all about the money?

I read an article the other day about a study by a professor of a university in singapore. His study, published earlier this year, shows that Singaporean women are ’significantly’ more materialistic than their American peers. The full article can be read from this website: http://www.temasekreview.com/2011/06/15/money-talks-when-spore-women-say-i-love-you/.
anyway that isn't the object of my post. As it was doing by devotion yesterday, this verse struck me:
"Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said 'Never will i leave you, never will I forsake you.'" Hebrews 13:5 It dawned on me that we Christians are not supposed to be materialistic. In the world we live in today, every where we turn is advertisements that tell us what product is good, what we should buy. It is hard not to lust after money. The article also says "Prof Li did not ask his subjects for their reasons but said he is not surprised by the finding. ‘Maybe Singaporean women are just being realistic. Here, you need a lot of money to survive and afford an affluent lifestyle. Maybe they are just being practical,’ he said. He is right, even if you aren't tempted by these and claim you aren't just think what put food on your table? But we can be rest assured that we don't need to worry about tomorrow. "Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own." Matthew 6:25 Instead we should trust God to provide for all our needs, for He is our provider. It isn't going to be easy but we got to keep praying about this and even pray for others that God will help them not be materialistic. We are also suppose to "
seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well" as Matthew 6:33 says. Another thought that came to my mind was how we planned our lives. Maybe there are some of you who aspire to work in the field of your interest, that is good. There are some on the other hand, me included, our dream job is one that can aid us in earning a lot of money. No matter what defines our dream, we should commit all our plans and even life to Him. In proverbs chapter 16 verse 4 it says" Commit to the Lord whatever you do and your plans will succeed." This is really what God is speaking to me because when I was reading the daily bread today, the topic is also on money. I'll end with the verse"For the love of money is the root of all kinds of evil." I Timothy 6:10
I don't know who reads this or if anyone even does, but if you are reading this God probably is speaking to you and this message is probably for you.=) God bless
